Neglespretten 2011 - Ingen fin dag på fjorden

Det har vært litt travelt så oppsummering etter Neglespretten har ikke kommet før nå. At dette ikke kom til å bli en vanlig Neglesprett var klart fra starten. Et par minusgrader og tett snødrev gjorde sitt til at vi måtte belage oss på å seile på instrumenter siden sikten begrenset seg til ca 100m.

Starten

Vi bestemte oss tidlig for å starte på babord merke. Det Stod litt mer vind her og risikoen for å komme i skyggen av Eidsvågslandet er mindre. Vi hadde en kjempestart med spinnaker og var først over startstreken. Etter å seilt kompasskurs en stund begynte merket å dukke opp i snøværet. Vinden dreide mer mot nord og vi satte A0.

Runding Straumsnes

Ved runding merket bestemt vi oss for at vi ville prøve å jibbe rundt med A0, men det viste at det ikke var smart. Vinden løyde av betraktlig og dreide slik at vi ble presset mot land hvor det var enda mindre vind. Lærdom 1: Play it safe - bruk fokka ved runding.

God jul og godt nytt år

Jeg benytter anledning til å ønske mannskap og alle seilervenner en riktig og og fredful jul. Bruk høytiden til å hygge dere i godt selskap og samle krefter til neste års utfordringer.

VSS2SVN

Since we more or less have decided to move from Visual SourceSafe (VSS) to Subversion (SVN), I have been searching around for tools that would migrate my files from VSS to SVN. After som searching I found to alternatives: migrate.pl Perl program from Brett Wooldridge (brettw-AT-riseup-DOT-com) available at http://www.riseup.com/~brettw/dev/VSS2Subversion.html and the Tigris project at http://vss2svn.tigris.org/. After having tested both and concluded that none of the actually worked, I set out to fix the one ith the least amount of problems. The one I chose was migrate.pl. Now the next step was to arm my self with some tools to ease the task. So I installed EPIC Eclipse plugin : http://e-p-i-c.sourceforge.net/ and ActivePerl from ActiveState (http://www.activestate.com/Products/Download/Download.plex?id=ActivePerl).I the downloaded and read this Article :http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/edu/os-dw-os-epic-i.html?S_TACT=105AGX44&S_CMP=ECL which is about debugging Perl programs insed Eclipse. Armed with this I soon figured out what was the problem with the script: paths! Having fixed the path problem, and adding in a nice extra feature which enables you to run it with a --batch parameter. Running with parameter, nothing is imported into SVN from VSS. Instead a batch-file is created that contains the entire job is created. You can the run this batch-file where and when you want as long as SS.exe and svn.exe is available on the machine where you run it. You can download the file from here. Please go ahead and try it.
